Hanworth War Memorial

The memorial consists of two plaques, one for each World War.  They are to be found in the Memorial Hall, built after WW1 to commemorate those who served and/or died in that war.  From a population of 76, according to the 1911 Census, Hanworth sent 42 to serve their country with the forces.  While these would not all have been away at the same time the effect on this small community wold have been profound.

    • Aged 32
    • Remembered in Ypres (Menin Gate)
  • Albert Harrison

  • Bertie John Newstead (L Corp)           CWGC
    • Who served with 8th Battalion Norfolk Regiment
    • Service Number 13547
    • Died 1 July 1916
    • Aged 21
    • Remembered in Thiepval Memorial
  • Claude Stone
